Pepe Silva opened Rio Grande restaurant in Oak Ridge in 2002, but this family business was started long before... At the age of 18, Pepe began working in the first Rio Grande in West Virginia with his aunt and uncle. Learning everything about the business, he worked from dishwasher, to bus boy, to waiter, to manager. After visiting Oak Ridge he fell in love with the community and decided to open his own Rio Grande here. He has come to truly love this community that he and his family call home.
With the overwhelming success of the Oak Ridge restaurant, Pepe asked his brother-in-law to come and help him. Joe Mandeville moved to the area
in 2005 and began learning the
family business.
