Message from John and Julie…

J. Pepper’s objective is to be Kernersville’s destination eatery. We want to be known for the highest quality food and drink at a good value. Our guests should always experience prompt, friendly and attentive service in an inviting community atmosphere.

We moved from Greensboro to Kernersville in 1998. Here we’ve raised our children, Josh and Jenna, and have developed a passion for the community with a strong desire to see it prosper. We have always enjoyed cooking for family and friends in our home and now consider J. Pepper’s an extension of our home kitchen! We look forward to serving you at J. Pepper’s!

John’s Story

Owner and chef, John Jones was raised in Martinsville, Virginia within the comfort of southern tradition and hearty family dinners. Like most southern families, his family would gather on the weekend, enjoying time together, relaxing around the table, sharing stories and dining on heartwarming meals.

As a child, John fondly recalls memories of Ms. Elizabeth, the family cook, move effortlessly around the kitchen, creating mouth watering meals without a recipe. She prepared her dishes by look, taste and feel and cooked only in cast iron, as a rule! Between John, his mother Betsy and Ms. Elizabeth the kitchen was the heart beat of the house and the where the family always gathered. It was here that John dreamed of owning a restaurant featuring southern fused cuisine. Nearly 40 years has passed and, now together with his wife, Julie they present J. Pepper’s Southern Grille to a community who has embraced their passion.

J. Pepper’s Southern Grille serves traditional southern fused dishes in a sophisticated and relaxed setting where everyone feels welcome. You will experience unfaltering standards for food and service when you are at the restaurant. J. Pepper’s chooses the finest ingredients available and purchasing produce from local farmers markets is Jones’ ongoing commitment to support and sustain local farmers.
